An animal that is dirty looking, beaten up and unimaginably thin is an obvious indicator that it is a stray. Just the thought of being alone on the streets, dying of starvation, and the constant abuse by hateful people just to chase you away can make us wonder how it would feel to be them.
Did you know that some animals are driven to extinction because they are unable to adapt to new environments? Humans are said to be able to adapt in any kind of situations in order to survive. But what if you were an animal? Abused and abandoned. Left out on the streets where accusations of being a diseased animal are pointed at you just because you are a stray. No words can describe how those animals feel unless you are Doctor Doolittle.
Imagine what these animals would give up just to have a taste of having a home where they are welcomed. Animals may not be able to express their feelings like a human does not mean they do not understand. Every year hundreds of puppies and kittens are brought into this world and only a lucky handful gets adopted into a proper home.
For those puppies that does not get adopted, they would most likely end up abandoned in animal shelters or in a box left at the side of the streets. These puppies will grow up not knowing any love or comfort of a home. Neglection and abuse will only lead to development of behavioral problems and that would make it harder for them to get adopted into a family. When there is no other choice, those dogs are caught and will be humanely put down.
So in order for us to help our furry little friends, no matter animal lovers or not, even the slightest little effort can help make a difference for them. Having columns in newspapers to advertise the animal shelters and dogs up for adoption, have the shelters create an awareness about the increasing numbers of unwanted pets so that breeders will not let their dogs breed unnecessarily, or even have a workshop where new pet owners can learn the proper way to take care and understand their pets.
Everyone can take part in trying to save these poor animals. It is the effort that counts.
